Get valid IP addresses

I see that most of the forums and sites can check the IP addresses of their members, so they know what countries the members are signed in at. But when I look at my members IP addresses, they are not valid, is there a reason for this?
Or can I change the settings to make the IP addresses valid?

Yeah when I click on that icon, it says "Invalid IP address"

Ohhh yeah I got that message too, but see it says "INVALID IP DATA FILE" ?
What does that mean?
